GUIDELINE NUMBER 1: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS OF YOUR TEAM COACH
Their job is to provide guidance on the tasks assigned and ensure that you are safe
They’ll let you know everything you need to process safely and to have a good time
Please listen to their instructions and when they ask you to do something
Please help them out by complying
GUIDELINE NUMBER 2: UNDERSTAND THAT SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY
If you see a hazard in the warehouse whilst working, please bring this to the attention of your team coach
For example
There may be some rubbish on the floor it might be a trip hazard
You may notice that some equipment has become damaged and in need of repair as it is unsafe – please bring this to the attention of your “Team Coach”
Whilst every step is taken to ensure a safe working area, we cannot be complacent. It’s our responsibility collectively to be proactive
GUIDELINE NUMBER 3. TAKE CARE AROUND MOVING EQUIPMENT
This year, throughout Australia and New Zealand, we are planning to prepare and send over 250,000 shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in need.
That is a lot of shoeboxes, and we will need equipment to help us move these gifts including pallet jacks and in some cases forklifts. We have developed a Floor Traffic Management Plans that will identify safe places to work and walk.
Please ensure that you keep away from any moving equipment and remain in your designated areas
If you do hear or see powered Load Shifting Equipment, please maintain a safe distance of at least 3 metres
If you are anywhere near a moving forklift, please make eye contact with the driver so that he or she knows you’re there and if you’re at a safe distance you can then continue with your processing in the warehouse
GUIDELINE NUMBER 4. HOUSEKEEPING – having a clean and efficient workspace
If you see some rubbish lying around or some things out of place, please put them away or put them in the bin because having a clean workspace helps maintain a safe workspace
Remember, rubbish can be a trip hazard, so please ensure we keep the work area clean
GUIDELINE NUMBER 5. MANUAL HANDLING – Lifting heavy boxes etc
We want you to remain injury free in the warehouse but there are some heavy items to lift in the warehouse such as outer cartons that can weigh 20kg plus
Please ask for assistance when lifting heavy items. Do not pick up heavy weights on your own if you’re lifting a heavy object, we encourage you to talk to your team coach and get the heavy lifting guidelines they’ll instruct you on how to do a safe lift
GUIDELINE NUMBER 6. TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
Some of your work will involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and doing repetitive work. Please take a break and do lots of stretches, if needed.
